Keynote Speech: Move over risk/return profiles: Values define clients’

There were some very interesting and forward-thinking discussions at the Portfolio Construction Forum on 20-21 February 2019 in Sydney, Australia. Much focus was on the best way for the investment community to translate clients' beliefs into investment practice. It's surprising how we so often still assume a risk/return profile based on goals that are blinded by our own biases or commonly held assumptions.
Over the past decade failure of many consumer companies have taught that it is not longer enough to focus on just delivering on goals. We need to make an effort to understand and align with our clients' values. Only then, can we get a sharper understanding of our clients' true objectives and provide solutions that will really meet their needs.
